Home built alternator welder plans?
 

Anyone here have a really good underhood design for an alternator powered welder that you've actually seen, built or used?

I've been all over the net but all I seem to find is the same three repackaged plans over and over and over. I'd really like to find one that someone here has actually built and tried and can tell me firsthand how well it performs before I invest the time to build one myself.

Not really an underhood system but a small gas engine unit, uses an unregulated ford alternator and a big fat power diode on a big fat heat sink.

RPM sets amps ... use at least a 120 amp diode.
